7 Signs of Speaker Malpractice (You’ve Probably Done #3)

7 Signs of Speaker Malpracticemp3

Let’s call it what it is for speakers.

Some presentations aren’t just boring . . . they’re malpractice.

Not because the speaker is bad.

Because their speaking habits are.

Here are a few repeat offenders I see all the time:

1. Starting with your résumé

Nobody came to hear your LinkedIn profile read out loud.

Earn attention—don’t demand it. Pro Tip: Write your own Introduction and have it contain credibility information why you are the person to speak on this topic.

2. Hiding behind your slides

If your slides can stand alone, why are you there?

You are the message. Not the deck.

3. Talking at people instead of to them

This is the big one.

Information isn’t connection.

If it feels like a lecture, you’ve already lost them.

4. No clear point

If I asked your audience, “What was that about?”—would they agree?

If not, that’s on structure.

5. Trying to sound “smart” instead of being clear

Big words don’t impress.

Clarity does.

6. Ignoring the audience’s reality

Your content might be great… just not for them.

Relevance beats brilliance every time.

7. No call to action

If nothing changes after you speak, what was the point?

Here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear:

Good speaking isn’t about perfection. It’s about connection.

And connection is simple—but not easy.

  • Talk like a human.

  • Have a point.

  • Make it matter to them.

Do that, and suddenly . . . no malpractice.

Just impact. Follow this advise to avoid Speaking Malpractice and your presentations will be absolutely, positively - NO SWEAT! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About the Author
