Perfection Doesn't Connect. Authenticity Does.

Perfection Doesn't Connect

Many speakers believe they have to be perfect.

  • Perfect words.

  • Perfect delivery.

  • Perfect timing.

  • Perfect slides. They don't.

In fact...

Trying to be perfect often gets in the way of making a connection.

Think about the best speakers you've heard. Were they perfect? Probably not.

But they were:

  • Genuine.

  • Comfortable.

  • Believable.

  • Authentic.

That's what audiences remember.

Here's something many speakers forget...

The audience isn't keeping score.

They're not hoping you'll:

  • Forget your place.

  • Mispronounce a word.

  • Miss a slide.

They're hoping you'll succeed.

Why?

Because they invested their time, opportunity cost, and sometimes money, to hear what you have to say.

Don't be afraid to let your personality show.

  • Smile.

  • Use humor when appropriate.

  • Tell a story.

  • Share a lesson you learned the hard way. Those moments of transparency and vulnerability make you real.

And real connects.

If you lose your place...

  • Don't panic.

    • Pause.

    • Take a breath.

    • Gather your thoughts.

    • Then keep going.

      • Most audiences won't remember the mistake.

        • They'll remember how confidently you handled it.

Trying to sound perfect often makes a speaker sound:

  • Stiff.

  • Scripted.

  • Rehearsed.

Authenticity sounds:

  • Conversational.

  • Confident.

  • Sincere.

Remember...

People believe what they see.

If your words and your body language aren't in sync...

People will believe what they see.

Every time.

Be yourself.

Just be the best prepared version of yourself.

Preparation builds confidence. Confidence allows your authentic personality to shine.

Public speaking isn't about impressing people.

  • It's about connecting with them.

    • That's where trust begins.

    • That's where influence grows.

    • That's where opportunities are created.

Because...

Speaking Opportunities are Business, Career, and Leadership Opportunities!

Perfection doesn't connect. Authenticity does.

Be authentic rather than perfect and your presentations will be absolutely, positively NO SWEAT! —————————————————————————————————————————————
