SIMPLE Rules! Especially in Presentations.

SIMPLE Rules!

If there’s one word that should guide your presentations, it’s this: SIMPLE.

Not boring. or dumbed down. Simple.

Simple

  • Language

  • Words

  • Images

  • Concepts

Why? Because audiences don’t come to presentations to admire how smart the speaker is. They attend to learn something. They come to understand, remember, and maybe, act on what they've learned.

When we overcomplicate things, we lose people. And once they’re lost, they rarely come back.

Simple language matters.
Big words don’t impress audiences—they distract them. If a fifth grader wouldn’t understand your sentence, rewrite it. Clear beats clever every time.

Simple words matter.
Short words land faster. They’re easier to process and easier to remember. And when people remember your words, they remember you.

Simple images matter.
Slides packed with charts, bullets, and tiny fonts don’t help—they compete with you. Also, no one attends to read your presentation. A single image that supports your point is far more powerful than a slide that tries to explain everything.

Simple concepts matter.
If you can’t explain your idea simply, you probably don’t understand it well enough yet. Clarity is a sign of mastery, not weakness.

And here’s the truth most speakers miss:
Simple is hard! It takes work to strip away the unnecessary.
It takes discipline to stay focused on one idea at a time.
It takes confidence to trust that less really is more.

But Simple Works.

Simple is respectful of your audience’s time and attention.
Simple is memorable.
Simple makes your message portable—people can repeat it, share it, and use it.

If your goal is impact, not applause…
If your goal is influence, not information overload…
Then remember this:

SIMPLE Rules!

And the best presentations prove it every time.
